    Ic couriers

I would have to wonder why you have to wait three weeks to get paid. I worked for two local companies in Columbus Ohio before I started with Roberts Express several years ago and never had to wait past the second week. You can go broke real fast waiting that long to find out there...

    "Buying" into a Van?

Thanks Gregg. And by the way, I am the one who got the first ticket for passing the scale in Michigan 2 1/2 years ago. The reason I didn't tell the rest of the story at that time is that if you remember most of the drivers here said that the law didn't say what it said, remember? Well the...

    "Buying" into a Van?

I agree with you up a point. I am not saying anything about your driving experience, okay? But let me ask you a question, Lets say that you was in a accident that legaly was not your fault. You did everything on earth to avoid the accident but the accident happened and someone got hurt...

    "Buying" into a Van?

The DOT can do anything to a cargo van that they can do to a big truck. Give a ticket, make the driver get legal etc. As far as the Manufacture giving out the PAYLOAD value, I believe that is misleading to say the least. It could make someone believe they can put that much cargo into their...

    "Buying" into a Van?

I am not talking about whether or not you can secure the freight. I am talking about operating the van is a safe mannor. If the max GVW is 9600 then that is the max. total legal weight. Now as you point out "think outside the box" The total weight is. #1 the empty curb weight...

    "Buying" into a Van?

The DOT Officer don't care how much weight is in the van, his only concern is how much weight is on the ground.

    "Buying" into a Van?

Can't happen. There is no legal or safe way you can put that much weight on a cargo van. If I was trying to sell a van, I don't think I would want the person I was trying to sell it to know I overloaded it that way.

    Who kne this?

Yea, my gauge has a picture of a pump with the hose on the right side, but my fill hole is on the drivers side. There is however a small arrow pointing to the drivers side. I will check my car when I get home and see if it has a arrow pointing to the fill hole.

Need advice about a cargo van.

When asking for advice we sometimes don't get the answers we want. But you can be sure of one thing, you are going to get it!

Need advice about a cargo van.

6 lug wheels and 2500 does not sound like any 9600 GVW that I have ever seen. You can add springs but that won't add to your GVW, it only adds to your empty weight. You can increase the GVW of a big truck by adding a tag axel but you can not increase the GVW of a 4 wheeler. Now let's...

Need advice about a cargo van.

Blizzard. Some companies will not let you come on board with a 3/4 Ton van. If you are fired up sure you want to buy a used 3/4 van make sure you have a company to drive for.

Landstar vs FedEx or other companies

Good thinking, Leo. An e-mail can be read when an agent gets a chance and gives them something to go back to later if they have a need in the area. Its a wonder things didn't work out here for you.

    Log question

Thats what I wanted to say, On duty not driving. But I still don't know about the 14 hour deal. If the DOT is going to give you some leeway on the 11hr rule because of a problem such as an accident or weather, will they give us some wiggle room on the 14hr rule?

    Log question

If this is true, why not just log the delay as off duty not driving? Also what would be the correct thing to do if the delay caused the driver to go over the 14 hr rule. Case in point, I was delayed for 6 hours on the WV toll road a month ago because of an accident. Normaly that would...

Landstar vs FedEx or other companies

As far as getting in good with the agents, just be professional. Always remember that the agents don't have to dispatch because it's your turn. Don't try to get an extra 10 to 20 cents for every run because they will just stop calling you. Some drivers go into an agents office and stay...

    Dry feet solution

Anyone ever try SWEEN CREEM? Its made by Cloplast Corp in Mariette Ga. I get mine from the VA, but I don't think you need a RX to buy it. It makes my old, dry, cracked hands feel just like a peach

Landstar vs FedEx or other companies

Fuzzyman, it sounds like you was with Ranger or another of the sister companys. The Express side is nothing like what you are used to. At one time LEAM would not allow a sister company BCO to switch over, but I have talked to a couple drivers that have done it in the last couple years...
