    13 speed transmission

even though it only has 44,000 miles, that doesnt mean everything is good yet but in this case, everything is like new yet. Motor mounts are good. I was going to change the harmonic balancer just to satisfy my curiosity but it is a fluid balancer and I never heard of one of those going bad...

    stretching a class8

notanewbie, that would work on older trucks but with the newer trucks they use multiplex wiring or optics to control electronic valve banks to dump air, activate abs, interaxle lock, etc. You need the wiring harness extension to make it work. Plus it is sealed meaning a problem free solution...

    13 speed transmission

did everything you guys mentioned. It is a new trans behind a c7 (second one actually, the first did the same thing so I thought it was bad). Driveshafts were balanced seperately and then checked as a rotating assembly for balance.

    13 speed transmission

So I took out my RTF-8709B transmission and installed a RTLOF-16713A transmission as I have done in all my trucks (44K miles on 9 speed if anyone is interested) and I have a grinding noise when under load between 1400 and 1550 rpms. Rear ends are good, not even a trace of filings on the...

    stretching a class8

Stretch for just the chassis will depend on how much longer you want to stretch it. How much frame needs to be added? How many driveshafts need to be made and carriers installed? wiring harness extenders? Air lines extended? I do my stretches in house but I have had quotes before to see...

    Maintenance

I do all of maintenance and major repairs myself. I completely agree with retidepxe that repair shops miss grease zerks, on purpose because they are to lazy to wiggle the end of the grease gun in hard to reach places, and yes, I too have to wonder what is up with getting a piece of equipment...

    Best Wipers-Bug Juice

Ive tried Trico flex and Trico Force Flex, Michellin, a bunch of other new flex blade designs and found that RainX blades work the best for me and keep working for over a year before they even show signs of needing replacement. For Bug Juice I use Prestone brand with the lipca remover. Its...

    Which straight truck?

Both International and Cat motors are basically the same. Either engine is a pile. One thing to keep in mind is that the Freightliner uses better mechanical parts than the international. Such as wheel bearings, timken (freighliner) -vs- Hyatt (International). There are other good points to...

    Cat C-7

You will loose some displacement from sleeving this motor but it can be done. I would seriosly caution against this though unless the engine is in a lawn mower or a weed eater. The c7 is already underpowered and over rated as compared to its competitive counterparts.

    Detroit 50 series engine

Can attest to the claims. I currently have one from 98 in a fl-106 tandem axle flatbed. Just over 900k miles and never been touched. Bought it with under 200k and it has been employee driven locally ever since. You know employees, if it aint theirs who cares! I would definately buy another...

    Horn not working

You can buy an air powered horn from a party supply store. They only last as long as the can has air but if your using your horn your probably flipping someone off anyway and you will definately get your point across as those things are loud. Especially when you have it extended out your...

    goodyear or dunlop tires

Out of round, every sang one of them! My experience along with others I know. Ran a couple sets (dunlop is same as goodyear) and they wear awesome but man, its like I have eggs bolted on in place of tires. They go great with CAT engines IF two wrongs make a right.

Cat to Cummins swap - Need info help!

What a waste of $110k. Tomorrow I will burn it to an unrecognizable melted gob of goo. Gonna just bite the bullet and order a new one. Im not going to let CAT make a dollar off parts from the next owner or should I say uneducated sucker. 3rd and last cat in my lifetime! I'll quite trucking...

    Catalyst Injection System...Does it work????

So, the question still stands. Does it work (not that i care all that much bout emmissuons), but, is the engibe reliable and provide GOOD power? As far as I'm concerned black smoke is cool and if birds drop from the sky when i hit the gas pedal, well..... guess I ain't no animal activist...

Cat to Cummins swap - Need info help!

Good to know. But there is only two thibgs that scare me. First is spiders and second is yellow paint on a motor. C9 may be better than a c7 but right now I have 3000 miles on new inj. Pump and injectors and they are out again. Pulled tge fuel filter and looks like someone dumped a...

Cat to Cummins swap - Need info help!

Can't find a wiring harness to make everything work as it should. So......I ended up throwing injectors and heui pump on the yellow boat anchor. Still a gutless wonder! The only thing that amazes me about CAT is the poor fuel mileage with its under powered design and the astronomical cost of...

Cat to Cummins swap - Need info help!

Ok, I have a cat c-7 (05' 330hp with 114,000 miles). This thing is the second cat I have owned and just as big of a pile as the first. No power compared to the cummins 8.3L. I get 12-16 mpg with my 8.3's and this cat only makes 7.1 mpg. And if you are wondering they all have the same chassis...
