I have never had a business relationship with a owner. I have hunted down a CPA, that is knowledgeable in trucking and micro small business. Well worth the time and effort.
We got the standard 35 cents per mile. XPO has a hard time competing in the great N/W, kind of figured to drive south. Always a crapshoot, but we have family getting up in their years.
Ran a OH to WA last week. Stayed in service while visiting family and friends. One would ya could ya. Relocated to Los Angeles area, arrived yesterday. Loaded for Dallas today. Nice Western swing!
Tryed Memphis for a day, snagged a load out of Nashville. A/C gave up, new shop thought it may have been overcharged. So far it’s working good. Did some back roads in N/W, NC, to load for Cincinnati area.
Monday, loaded for Larado out of Detroit. A/C compresser, decided to tear up the clutch/pulley assembly. Had to give up our first load, in almost 5 years of hauling freight. Definitely brought a good roll to a stop. Ready to rock on!
Knowing your approximate CPM is important, but the variables of this business diminish its value. If the business can allow 1/3 of your gross to be used as the operations fund, not counting fuel. Then you’re in the ballpark for most problems and annual expenses.
Chicago Land to Huntsville, AL last night. Last week figured out what was causing the thunk, when changing direction, and on occasion when up shifting. Right rear axle splines!
Vacation is over, six weeks flew by. Gave Seattle two days, one would ya, no joy. Loaded out of Chicago land for AL. Now mt in the Buffalo, NY area. Would be nice to get a run to Des Moines, IA. Have tickets for the Knoxville Nationals.
