Cargo Van Will we be able to work through Coronavirus?

Governments all over the world got duped by believing what the Chinese govt reported (and continues to report). I think some of the sudden seriousness in the last 2 days is they now realize it's mostly BS and Italy may be a more accurate or more relevant set of numbers to study.

Cargo Van Will we be able to work through Coronavirus?

Pilot/J's are noticeably cleaner than normal (so they are almost respectable now lol), tape at 6ft on the floor etc. Food is harder to get at night for sure and you need to do a lot of pro active restroom planning, basically if you find one open where you are, force yourself to go. Watch the...

Is your carrier doing anything for YOU due to the virus?

Even JB Hunt is giving thier guys bonuses. Seems more common among top tier carriers.

What is a food grade Sprinter?

We had 4 left, we called them railers for the hook rails in the ceilings. They were a disaster. I re lined the walls with a product called Bullitex that prevented the carcasses from smashing through to the insulation foam. It took a special driver to not only handle the hanging beef, but driving...

    Load Range E Tire

The C range tires seen on the new Transits etc are a European "Commercial" rating not the North American letter rating. The tires on a Transit are more in line with the NA "E" rating. If you are buying tires it's becoming more important to look at the actual weight rating printed on the tire...

Cargo Van Will we be able to work through Coronavirus?

You guys give him too much credit that he actually comes up with all this stuff on his own. Except for a very few, most governments downplayed and under estimated this. I'll see if I can find it again but, a mathematician (MIT maybe) charted every country with over 100 cases and it was quite...

Cargo Van Will we be able to work through Coronavirus?

It saddens me that even in such unprecedented times that the politics can't seem to be turned off. Does anyone seriously think Trump, or thier governor is actually making the decisions? They are surrounded by 'the system' of experts for a reason. Thinking about the economic fallout isn't...

What is a food grade Sprinter?

Look up HACCP and the kinds of things it requires, will give you a good idea. When I ran a fleet for a beef company it was the Bible we had to follow. Not all food companies do, but it gives you an idea of what top tier ones follow.

Cargo Van Will we be able to work through Coronavirus?

Ontario as of 23:59 tomorrow....shut down for 14 days. The federal lockdown thingy is complicated up here too, and we have a way more overreaching federal gov than the US. Our Prime Minister is the polar opposite of Trump, and he too is letting the individual provinces make those decisions...

The State of Freight Today (Coronavirus Effects)?

Bright side, at least you can put the carpet down now without disturbing your membership (if it shows up).

Is your carrier doing anything for YOU due to the virus?

Interesting about the Landstar thing. The big box pharmacy my wife runs has instituted a chain wide $2/hr wage increases for hourly paid front line workers and something equivalent for salaried store managers and made it retro active to when the panic started. "It's important, now more than...

Is your carrier doing anything for YOU due to the virus?

We are seeing stories about mortgage deferrals and other things being made available to people to help them cope. Has anyone's carrier offered them a break on anything (like Qualcomm fees or other stuff)?

The State of Freight Today (Coronavirus Effects)?

I can say this Phil, I have gone into a cash protection mode. I have always believed in having a substantial cash buffer and good credit availability so you can ride out any sudden things. This however while sudden to appear is likely going to affect things for a while so I am preserving cash as...

DT 570 question about hp uprate

DT570's don't respond well to extra HP (head gaskets and warped heads). Surprised to see a 4400 with a 570, always seem to be 466's. The 570 was not a particularly solid motor, especially if it was worked hard.

Cargo Van Will we be able to work through Coronavirus?

I think Wall St will bounce back.....might take the rest of the year and maybe only get to 24,000 type numbers but unless you are an investor cashing out right now...life will go on. IMO, get something flowing immediately to regular folks first and defer taxes till later, make mortgage payment...

This will be interesting. After the van lifestyle and being able to just go and visit things, now RoadTime has to arrange for transportation (ELD tether) ....or does he? Big Orange/personal conveyance rules?
