Are You Preparing Your Business for the Coming Fiscal Cliff?

You are fence sitting with your reply Phil. You have given advice to save and pay down debt, that advice is then backed with further comment by you as to why one should not invest in their truck business because you see gloom on the horizon. Ok, if you prefer to remain with the sky is falling...

Are You Preparing Your Business for the Coming Fiscal Cliff?

You’re making a wonderful prediction Phil, a wonderful prophecy for a dismal economic future. I have always had faith that the world economy will falter constantly due to the challenges placed at the feet of those who manage the money for the needs of the people of every corner of the world...

    You're Invited - Monroe, MI

Just what type of "shortcut things”? Please expand that idea of yours. The business of freight transportation is hardly rocket science. Pickup freight, then deliver freight, maintain your equipment, maintain yourself.

Looking for info on Cobra and Rand Mcnally GPS's

In the jungles of South America we once trained a monkey to pick small bunches of Bananas and bring them to us on the porch for breakfast. Our biggest problem was that once the banana tree became picked clean of bananas the monkey couldn’t figure out that a nearby tree would be ok to pick from...

Looking for info on Cobra and Rand Mcnally GPS's

We continue to use the ALK Copilot map software installed on our computers and it has been perfection for truck navigation. Using and liking Copilot is a minority view as far as EO posters go but we also have a McNally 710 which it has failed twice and needed to be returned to the factory for...

    John Elliott Snags Another One

We could not disagree more with your statement. Expediting has been the easiest challenge we have ever had. Hours have never been better, usually sleeping till 9:00am before roll out to a quick coffee followed by a spin for us of twenty to thirty minutes on the stair stepper all the while...

Generator and Truck fuel usage separated?

Thanks Greg and Linda for your responses. When truck and generator fuel usage is combined to represent total fuel used, per quarter per truck, it decreases the Mile Per Gallon reported to IFTA and hence more road tax is owed.

Generator and Truck fuel usage separated?

For IFTA purposes, can the gallons used for the generator and those used for the truck be separated? Note: We do know the amount of gallons used by each generator and each truck.

    A Question for Express-1 Contractors

The bigger question about XPO is what they can offer to shippers that other freight service providers cannot. Over the past 5 to 10 years the integration of technology, expanding freight capacity and maintaining a high quality of drivers has been the only areas of improving the experience for...

You imply some of you are dumb, which ones, and just where do you feel you are?

Backhauls what does your Carrier you for them.

This thread contains the beginning elements to a new thread that would define for future “transportation specialists”, our term for truck drivers, and a standard terminology that the majority of those who get behind the wheels of Americas CMV can depend as they work within the transportation...

So You Sit or Do You Move? Try This Decision Aid

I think all the comments, excluding yours, are about the usefulness of his “aid”, not about Phil or his usefulness.

So You Sit or Do You Move? Try This Decision Aid

Phil your “aid” in your view is useful, but it is useful? You’re trying to create a theorem with too many variables, thus your theorem lacks a concept of proof other than your word/gut that it works. For your “move or not move” theorem to work you need more true statements. Your aid demonstrates...

So You Sit or Do You Move? Try This Decision Aid

Deciding to move your truck should not be based on an “aid”; But rather upon known freight movement information. Your “aid” try’s to determine the outcome of where the freight will be based on only known operating cost. Rolling a pair of dice would work equally as well as the “aid”.

    Rand McNally TND 700/710 junk?

We purchased a TND710 at the last Mid America truck show. It failed within the first 7 days of use. Got a return authorization, sent it back and received a new unit at the office within 10 days. There have been several “freeze ups”, but no real problems with the unit since its return. We...
