It’s my money and I want now!

I don't buy into the big bad carrier is screwing me over mentality. I feel reassured by the fact that when I walk through our company warehouse, I see the owner storing his Mustang, 30' 5th wheel RV, monster truck and other unknown tarped sports car. Why because I can see that he is making...

    Feeling richer?

You are right though, I did burn through a lot of savings. My buffer in my account is gone.

    Feeling richer?

Miles make such a biger impact than the # of paychecks or weeks in a month. If this week goes as well as the last 3, I will have made almost double in the 4 weeks of August vs the 5 weeks of July. Butfinancially August sucked because of holdback and getting those small checks in &ugust.

It’s my money and I want now!

Greg, I have a feeling that there is a considerable amount of accounts that take longer than 3 weeks to pay, so I suspect most carriers use it to pay drivers and overall cash flow for the business.

Where is the best place for Tractors?

Bruno, Why not change the way you pay your drivers. Either drop the base a penny or two and give them a 2c bonus for miles they ran 3 months ago for you. Or put a training fee in the contract if thet choose to do the lease program.

Dakota, Given the mpg you experienced would you recommend he take the 40 or 60 split?

    how are CVs running lately?

Every carrier is or should be making money off of it's drivers / OO. If they don't equal their profit margin on flow through expenses like QC, they will need to increase their margin somewhere else.

    Tax Information for 2011

I didn't want to start a new thread, so I'll just ask my question here. I'm an employee driver, I've been keeping all of my expense receipts for food and anything that I buy for my job. Do I need to do this? Its a pita. Or is there a per diem that I can claim because I am working away...

    How's it Going at Landstar?

Supply and demand. Right now there is an abundance of supply. Nobody denies that. Would you agree that the number of people willing to haul for $1.00 / mile is greater than those willing to haul for 0.90 / mile? Would you also not agree that the number who are willing to haul for...

Dallas is really slow, don't go there :D Kinda suprised your packing it in already, thought you would have waited for tonight at least. But you probably have a tip and will catch a load, you've been running good lately, so good luck.

It’s my money and I want now!

I was going to say that a lot more money is probably lost to drivers from carriers finding a reason to keep it rather than the 1% interest.

    How's it Going at Landstar?

Greg, It was me that was bashing you, but I was doing it to promote my agenda, I never replied afterwards because Iagree with your reasonings for taking the loads, I would do the same thing if I was in your shoes. But imo it better serves my agenda if people don't haul cheap freight.

Constituents Camaras and Cellphones Confiscated by LEO's

My point was about being proactive & respecting thelaw & legal process as you did in your example. If they chose to open up a dialogue prior to the meeting and let their concerns be known, then maybe the congressman's staff could have pointed out that they wereoperating under the laws or...

Ford Vans with Sprinter bodies types

I never realize this but I'm starting to see it the more I drive a sprinter. I know they had problems with both of the sprinters we have but I'm starting to think they might have been partially because they maintained it like they did their North American slop buckets. The biggest appeal to...

    It's not over yet!

I realize that there are real impacts financially to people, I meant that it wasn't catastrophic in the sense that luckily we didn't see thousands die like in Katrina. Houses can be rebuilt, w can't rebuild those lives lost. Sorry I wasn't more clear with my words, it's hard to be elaborate on...

    How's it Going at Landstar?

What is wrong with using the term too broadly? As for your 2nd line, I agree, as I said in my post, I don't expect anyone not to take freight that is profitable to them. It doesn't even have to be profitable for them to have a legit reason to take it.
