The owners of the trucks will pay for the installation, just another cost of doing business.

    FMCSA- Safety Measurement System

It is some very entertaining reading with all the orange alert boxes on these 5 star carriers. If yer thinking of changing carriers you might be surprised at who would be left off of the short list.

    too easily amused

For the pros yes, but for us weekend bracket racers it is still quarter mile passes.

The best burnouts are the ones that are followed by a quarter mile pass.

    All State Express

That is a very good question, I have been wondering the same thing myself. I am sure we will get an answer shortly.

    Home time?

No. I deal directly with shippers, no load boards or partner carrier agreements.

    Home time?

It is truly amazing how much shippers will pay to get their freight moved in a van.

    Home time?

I deadhead home after every delivery. All my customers are within a 75 mile radius of my home so I get home as fast as I can to be ready for another run.

    Home time?

I go back home after every delivery. I have found that it works best for me to do it this way.

    Satellite communications

A blatant cash grab it is and the reason they do it is simple. The carrier knows they can continue to operate if you leave because you object to the high QC costs. They also know you can not operate without a carrier to guide you so they will continue to overcharge you and you will continue to...

    cargo boards ?

Another option is to work directly with shippers. It all depends on how you want to do it.

Thinking about a return to the biz

How about the two Panther office clowns from last year. They left on a monday morning and returned on a friday afternoon and grossed $2000. They proved right there that you can make $100,000 a year gross with a sprinter and should be able to net $48,000.

CV and a tear drop camper

You might be surprised at how many are doing something like this. Think about this, person running a window van with no markings and freight in the van pulling a small travel trailer and completely invisible to DOT.

carrier decals on vans and sprinter

Anything 10,000 and under is not required to have any markings at all under federal regs. States may have different laws but that would be only for vehicles licensed in that state.

    The traitor driver

Not only a lot of EO members but the FMCSA also claims they are not CMVs. And there opinion is the one that counts.

    The traitor driver

No confusion here. If it is 10,000# or under, not transporting more than 8 passengers for compensation or transporting hazmat then it is not a CMV and does not require any markings at all.

    The traitor driver

Vehicles 10,000# and under are not required to have any markings at all. As to why a carrier slaps all the decals on there vans it must be that they view them as rolling billboards.

    D O T numbers

Interesting question. I am not sure on that one but if your a one van operation under 10,000 lbs and licensed to haul hazmat I would say no. Some of this 26,000 lbs and under stuff is a gray area and the 10,000 lbs and under is really a gray area.

    D O T numbers

That is because these companies also have straights and t/t to. That is why they have a DOT number. If it is a company requirement to have them on a van then if you lease to them you will have there DOT number on your van. As far as federal law goes you are not required to have any markings at all.
