    vans weight station states questions

All of the calls I'm making, are to the Commerical Vehicle Enforcement Division, at the state level, for each state. I wanted to avoid asking personnel working in a scale house, since, I guessing, they "are the last ones to hear anything". As far as the signs posted prior to the scale, each...

    vans weight station states questions

    >I've got a question you can ask while calling around. When >it says "All trucks over 7000 Pounds" do they mean actual or >gross? I never know. So I just pull in. I'd rather be told >"stay off my scale" than "you should have pulled in, here is >your ticket please follow me to the scale"...

    cargo vans

If you're not calling Dispatch or Driver Relations, every 12 hours, to find out what's going on, or to find out if you should be moving where the freight is, then the only person you can blame, is yourself. Good luck! :)

    Passenger seat.

I'm glad you asked... The seat was removed, and I'm happy to report, that I haven't fallen out of my bunk yet, but that brings up a serious issue. With merkurfan's post, stating he fell from his bunk, I've been thinking, and I feel that this is a serious problem. I'd like to suggest that we...

Safety Sups and "manditory sleep" in a cargo van..

RE: Safety Sups and "manditory sleep" in a cargo v Trust me, it's going to happen more and more, I think. I heard that hours cargo vans are running, is going to be looked at with a little harder. Your right, we all have our own limits, but the Safety Sups are just looking out for everyone, us...

    Security Guards

Just a note ... I was at the Ford Truck plant in Wayne, MI last week, and the guard I spoke with, told me that they (Ford) where switching to a private security company. Some of the current guards may be hired by the new company, but they wheren't sure. If you go in there in the coming months...

    vans weight station states questions

I've been making some phone calls, trying to put together a list, state by state, as to this very issue. So far, I haven't gotten a straight answer from anyone! As stated in the other replies, watch the signs. Some states are starting to change the wording on the signs at the weigh stations. I...

    >Didn't I read somewhere that UPS closed the old EMERY AIR >FREIGHT hub in Dayton O? That's correct. After they purchased it, they determined it was too close to Louisville to do them any good.

    Any cargo vans getting loads?

I'm in a cargo van, and I'm moving right along. Had four loads last week, three into Canada. I'd be making some phone calls to dispatch or start looking for another company to contract with.

    Panther II experiences

I'm not a "team", although my wife might say I'm big enough to be two people , and I run with Panther II in a cargo van. I've had great luck with them.

    Passenger seat.

At least we don't "really" know who you are. Might want to keep this to yourself, if speaking about removal of you front seat, in person to someone. :+ :+ :+ Funny stuff! By the way, I'm putting this one in my book of crazy things that happen to all of us on the road!

    Fuel surcharge

    >Earning $1000 differs greatly from carrier to carrier. >PantherII, for example, pays a flat rate of 77 cpm so, a >PantherII van... I don't know if I'm not reading this correctly or not, but Panther does pay their drivers a fuel surcharge. I've been paid everything from .06/mile to .19/mile...

    Cargo Vans and Panther II

Will you be running as an O/O, or will you have someone drive for you? If you'll be driving, you should do well, as long as you stay available. I've been with Panther for about a month, and i'm very pleased. Without going into details, I feel I'm doing pretty well. As time goes, I should do...

    weigh stations

Last week, I decided to work on this "problem". Over the next few weeks, I'm going to contact every state, and get the "official" answer to this question. As stated, some states post signs stating "commerical vehicles must scale", or "vehicles over 6000lbs must scale", etc... My van's empty...
