You may be right. Thanks for the advice.

If you need help finding backhauls, I may have found a solution.

I have a tractor pulling a dry van. So, I get a load. It goes somewhere that is not near one of Panther's hot spots. Once unloaded, do I sit or do I drive 300 to 400 miles to the nearest board that says I might have a fighting chance of getting a load in the next century? Either way I am...

    Panther's Orientation Dec 1st

Fr8 Shaker, I agree with you. I haven't had a Panther load in 3 weeks. I haven't even been offered a load at my regular rate or at a reduced rate. It is simply ludicrous that they are still having orientation. It is even more ludicrous to think that you will make money in this economic...

    Is anyone moving?

Thanks for the wisdom. Sounds like you have been there, done that. The company that brokered the freight does as much transborder business as Panther does. The Customs Broker is one of the one's Panther uses. And this load goes up there once a week with no problems. But still, strange...

    Bambi

Sorry to hear about your bump and grind with Bambi. I had a 10 point buck decide to turn around and commit suicide about a month ago on I80 in Ohio. Did some cosmetic damage to the bumper, hood, headlight, right front fairing, and nearly demolished the rear fairing. The adjuster came out and...

    Is anyone moving?

There is life after death - death of the expediting business, that is. Just booked two back to back loads - Louisiana to Ontario and Michigan to Florida. A total of nearly 2100 miles. Both pay nearly $2.00 a mile. Net $1.67 after Panther takes out its cut. My foray into changing my business...

    Is anyone moving?

Haven't had a Panther load in several weeks. Doing backhauls. Do a 700 to 1000 mile backhaul and then take a day to find another load. Sat in one area where qc said we had one load a day. I was the only truck in the area. Sat there for three days. Got an empty move back to the same area a...

    In truck scanning

Solved my own problem. If all else fails, get rid of app in control panel add/remove. Reinstall app. Now Transfo works.

    In truck scanning

Anybody had any problem with a pro not showing up at Panther when using this software? I sent a pro on 10/28. Panther website shows they have not gotten it. Using the software it still says pro is pending. I called Transflo customer service. They said said I needed to call Panther. I...

    Reducing Expenses/Saving Money

I agree with you. I use Microsoft Streets and Trips with the Truck Stops Plus 08 addin. GPS plus the mapping software work together well. Where GPS comes in is in the first five miles and the last five miles.

    Reducing Expenses/Saving Money

In the last two weeks, I have noticed some of our drivers are still not using any form of gps product. This comes to bite you when you are trying to find a shipper or cons. Two weeks ago, three of our tractor trailers were dispatched to do similar loads. One of the three got lost on the way...

    Reducing Expenses/Saving Money

One way I have found helpful is to use the trip planning feature at fueladvice.com. It usually finds the cheapest fuel on my route. Just used it for my current trip and it located a fuel stop with a $.52/gallon discount. Add that up over a year's time and you are looking at some significant...

    Load boards

Turtle, Don't be bashful about how you feel about the load board redesign and stoopid drivers. I had to stop eating lunch in order to read your diatribe. Thanks for your words of wisdom. Your passion shows through your words. Perhaps, the folks who designed the new board system will...

    Switching in Canada?

Just had a load that delivered about 150 miles north of Quebec City, Quebec. Customer setup delivery for Monday, June 30. Turns out cons was taking a long weekend due to Canadian Independence Day - July 1. So I would have to sit until Wednesday, July 2nd to deliver. Dispatch arranged to swap...

    Fuel Surcharges

If the fuel surcharge is low, you can always ask for a bonus to make up the cost. Seems to work more often than not. You may be the only truck available to do the load. In that case, dispatch will more than likely find a way to help you out with fuel costs.

    DH and the Tractor Fleet

I haven't noticed a big change in deadhead miles. I have a reefer and am accustomed to some serious deadhead for elite services loads. What I have noticed is a change in length of loaded miles. Seems as if the boys and girls in dispatch are finding a lot of 250 -350 mile loads. I tell them I...
