    1998 GMC 6500 Stalling after 200-300 miles

Hey, Read about your problem.Does your 3126 have a hand primer pump located above the fuel filter? If it does have it checked to see if the seals are holding in it. Also check under the cab for a small in-line fuel filter. My freightliner had one it got stopped up caused problem similar to yours...

    AUX. AXELS

Hey ya'all, I was just reading the postings on this subject about Louisiana D.O.T. It brought back bad memories. From my travels they are the only state in the union that has "when the lights are flashing closed".Also when in that state make sure you have an "original" not a photo copied...

    3126 rebuild

Dave,Weave, Thanks for your replies. Weave I hope the E-mail helped out with a better explination. Dave my understanding for an "in-frame" overhaul is that pistons & rings (with sleeves or liners extra) main bearings rod bearings rebuild head or remanhead . You could do a camshaft too but would...

    3126 rebuild

Hey Weave, I see now where you are coming from on the clearance problem of the trucks. Now the story I told you in the other post is going on 45 years!LOL the boring bar that he used wasn't no bigger than my H-P 'puter tower & best I can remember on that thing that it sorta sit off to the side...

    3126 rebuild

Damn Weave!!! You gonna make me tell my age!!!!!!!LOL, so here goes..... He would procede to unload his portable boring bar fit...

    3126 rebuild

Right-ON Mr Green!!! Same as I have watched countless times on Cummins & & Mack engines. Put boring bar on engine deck bore hole.060-083 counterbore deck & drop in new sleeve. that way you don't loose any bore size & could possibly over-size by .020-.040& increase displacement. just hope some...

    Freight in the southeast?

Childsafe, Yes there is freight in the Southeast! There is a lot of automotive moving out of your area. Some in between. Mostly going out of the South going to the mid-west. I've talked to several drivers from your area that stay real busy. Check with some of the local companies around GSP area...

    By-Pass New York City

Hey Ya'all I heard on Truckin' Bozo the other night;caller said that Qual-Com mesage from his company said no commercial vehicles could use the G.W. Bridge to run up north on I-95. Drivers would have to use I-287 to I-87 then I-84. Any of you hear this or have any info on it or is it just...

    van

Hawk, With all the descriptions you have gave I am led to beleive that your steering box is at fault. 1.Steers hard in normal driving? 2.With front end off ground it is only a little better. 3.On occassions it has "hung-up" to one side & takes hard effort to return to nuetral position. 4. I...

    Cat 3126 Oil leak

Weave, Thanks for the reply. I've heard of the problems you mentioned from other sources. I think the Lucas will help a lot. But those seals are like the same ones used in the old cat heavy equipment transmissions. I don't think lube hurts them but heat does them in. All I replaced were very...

    van

Hey, I just read your post. Is your steering collum adjustable or have a "U"-joint in it? If it does check it before going any futher. If it's a non-serviceable type ( no grease fitting) I'd go there first! Your post brought back 20 year memory......LOL! Good Luck...

    Cat 3126 Oil leak

Mornin' Ya'all, Thought while I was here I would post about this lil' leak. Had it for some time & itjust kept getting worse so I figured it's a good time to fix it. Oil seeping around HUEI pump flange.Runs down side of block to pan & runs out both sides of pan making it an awful mess. $4.75 "O"...

    Oil Additives

Hey, In response to your post about Lucas Oil Additive. Your spec's are about the same as one I had posted earlier. It will increase oil pressure by about 5-7 psi and also quiten down the engine a bunch. Also have you ever heard of a Citgo brand engine oil called Mystik? I use it it comes in...

    engine replacement

Have a question on your engine replacements. Did you replace with same type of 3126 (250 HP type)or did you have an increased version added. Also was it done by the Cat or Freightliner dealer? Reason I'm asking is because I've come across some web sites for 3126's up to 425HP. That & the 9 speed...

10w-30 for temps below 32? in diesel ford van.

RE: 10w-30 Tony, I saw you have a van with a 350 in it. I assume it's a gas engine? Do you use a standard filter on it? Have you tried a "Long" filter? I can't remember part # but it was a Wix Filter I used to use on an old P-30 I once owned. It adds 1 qt. to capacity of engine & twice as much...

10w-30 for temps below 32? in diesel ford van.

RE: 10w-30 Wild Bill & Weave, Here's my two cents worth. Lucas oil additives are worth every dollar you pay for it. I first started using it when i was with Fed-Ex Ground (Roadway Package Systems). Used it in a package van with over a 165,000 miles on it. It raised oil pressure up 5lbs. &...

Thank You, I appreciated the replies you all sent. Copies of them are going in my "Road Food" folder I keep on the truck. I figure if I get enough recommendations I'll be covered! A couple more hard to find spots I've ate at that I thought were pretty good. Fork in the Road-Somersville(?)...
