Move up or stay the same?

I can't see how a gasoline engine w/68,000 miles is a good deal for 19,800, when you can buy a new e-350 w/diesel for about 24,000-28,000. Especially with the new incentives from auto makers.

    Congratulations Lawrence and EO Staff!

I hope EO can get some van accessory stations up. Especially for Sprinter vans. They are very hard to find even online. The ones I do find are very limited. Actually, I'm sure straight truck drivers wouldn't mind seeing accessories tailored to their area of business too. P.S. Congrats to...

    Dodge Sprinter

There are a couple of freightliner dealers who will put them in and sell you the finished product for about 6000 to 7000 more. And there is Bentz in Fort wayne who will add it aftermarket. Their price varies because they have a number of different plans and options, anywhere from 1500 on up to...

Should I get an authority and get my own load or n

RE: Should I get an authority and get my own load I have a sprinter, and I use getloaded. My company takes 20% of the load. So if I am in a pinch and I have to get home for some appointment or whatever, I will use them. But I can not see those loads keeping you in business. For a van load...

THIS IS A MUST READ !!!!

I think the main problem with the media is that there is too much media! When you have 3 and 4 news stations filming 24/7, you are going to see mistakes, period. And of course they are nt going to report all the good stories, because the ratings would fall to low. This was the worst natural...

    FEMA Contracts

How much does a dump bucket cost to rent? Also, are they looking for strictly semi buckets or any size? I have an A license, but it's been about 2 years since I drove a semi. Sounds very interesting though. Thanx for the post.

    Now it's the Hurricane's fault???

    >When I heard yesterday that the >Red Cross was turned away from the Superdome by the >Louisianna National Guard, I was appalled. That was as wrong >as it gets. First of all, the National Guard is under the control of the State government. The National Guard was formed to protect citizens...

    American Needs? FEMA and more...

Good Post Bob!!! One correction though, Kuwait offered 500 million not 5. At least there is one nation that is is grateful for our help. Unlike another whose name I won't mention. FRENCH fries anyone?

    Hurricane Relief Info

I would imagine that the 500-600 mile fuel range on a van would limit its use in that area.

They said Sri Lanka is offering money also. This is pretty remarkable considering they are still dealing with the tsunami issue.

No Fuel at Many Truck Stops

    HURRICANE KATRINA

Where are the multitudes that donated money to tsunami relief? I understand that there isn't as large a death toll, but a little help wouldn't hurt. Especially if you consider the amount of money americans donated from their own pocket.

    tough decisions

I agree that it isn't fair to the companies who already pay a fuel surcharge. Unfortunately, the companies that already pay the surcharge are the same ones who have been the main contributers to driving down freight rates. (Ford, GM, and chrysler) I also agree that everyone needs to join...

    Fleet Owners

Good luck finding 12 decent drivers at one time. I went through 5 drivers before finding a quality driverfor my second truck. I'd have no hair if I had to do it 12 times over.

Gas prices vs. Fuel Surcharge and Pay Rates

I'd like to chime in on the OOIDA issue. I think OOIDA could increase their numbers greatly by either changing their name to Commercial Drivers Association, or making a push in advertising to let company drivers know they represent them also. The reason I mention this is, I can't tell you...

Gas prices vs. Fuel Surcharge and Pay Rates

    > As far as striking for a few days, I really could >not afford that. If I could, I'd be with it in a heart beat. How can you afford not to? The fews days you take off would be paid back 10 fold if we could get enough people together.

    No BOL

I think the problem is that the original driver is too lazy to stop at a truck stop on the way to the transfer and make extra copies. Alot of times the shipper only gives you 2. I always make them make an extra 2 if I know I have to transfer the load.

    Mandatory Fuel Surcharge!!!!

Unity is everything. Unity is why there are so many BS laws in the books. Politicians always follow the numbers. The problem is, not enough drivers vote. So, when we send letters to our representatives and senators saying that we're not voting for them next election, it's an empty threat. So...

    Mandatory Fuel Surcharge!!!!

This is why things do not get done in the trucking world. Instead of taking 2 minutes to write a congressman (or congresswoman), we would rather write a 10 minute paragraph on the 15 different philosophies of the subject. I got news for you people, there are a lot of trucks on the road. If...
