I actually got to meet Leo's Father when he came to pick up one of the trucks I sold him. I must tell you he made a lasting impression on me as well. You are blessed Leo!
It will just depend on the company. Some companies require them an some don't. Most companies will have their basic requirements listed on their web site.
As the business and rates have changed over the years it is much harder for a truck owner to make money with a single driver in the truck. I know of very few owners with single drivers in trucks and when they do it is usually a special situation.

What a dumb move on his part! He will soon find out the diffenece between having a line that you can drive a truck through and running into a brick wall all the time. He is not big enough to play in Oakland.

You will very seldom see a "super single" on anything but a fuel hauler. The main reason they were designed was to save weight so they could haul a few gallons more on each load generally for more short haul.
