    large fleet

Here is how I never give the "free" miles....I determine what loaded+empty miles are and do the math from what the linehaul+FSC is to get the all-mile per-mile rate. If it meets or exceeds my personal minimum, all things considered (weight, destination freight area, needs of the carrier...

    large fleet

I have never liked the idea of "giving" the first 50 miles (or 10, 20, 100, etc). It may be a good thing to pitch to a customer, but in real life there are no "free" miles. If you give away, say 100 miles a week, that's over 5000 miles a year. About 5% if you run 100k. Now, I just don't get 5%...

    The madness of Fergerson

I think many plumbers probably do better, financially, than many truckers/expeditors. That being said, I will cling to my idealistic view that a person's ability to achieve is mainly constrained by his/her self-imposed limitations.

Thank you John. Being part of the Load 1 family is high on our gratitude list. Every company gives lip service to treating drivers great, etc., but Load 1 lives it. Not only on holidays, but every day of the year! Happy Thanksgiving to the whole family!

    Thanksgiving Freight

We decided to stay out this year as we need to go home and move in December, so will be off until after Christmas and wanted to get a little extra in. Downside to living on the edge of the magic freight circle is that it's a little harder to get through the house exactly when you want to...

5 Owner Operator Mistakes to Avoid

APR interest is another way to say compound interest, where a running balance is used to figure interest charges. Simple interest just uses the original balance. As a rule, if you are receiving the interest like through a loan you made to someone, or another investment, you want compound...

07 M2 parking brake light and low air buzzer issue???

Had a similar problem on our 08. It was a corroded ground wire to the rear lights at the back left corner, just under the box, by the ICC bar. There may also be a fuse block underneath the truck near the tranny for the box lights and rear lights. Our has one there.
