Asking for load/rate over qc before taking

Yea I don't have a problem with Concordia, it's just that I ask for more when I go there to cover the cost of sitting there for a day or 2 or going down to Salina.

Asking for load/rate over qc before taking

How can anyone in any size truck take a load without knowing what the pay is?? I base my pay at where the load is going, how much time is it going to take, DH to pk, tolls, lumper fees, dims and weight, and where I have to go after I drop, if I decide to DH. You don't (or shouldn't) take a...

Questions for those operating under their own authority

Yea paperwork only takes 10-15 mins. Looking for a load or calling customers is the most time consuming part. If I am wanting to work I spend most of the time glued to the computer in search of loads or calling my customers/brokers letting them know where and when I will have a truck in there...

    Sprinter 2500 vs 3500

Just looked up GVW looks like 2 of the 3500 models are offered at 9990 as standard. That is good, glad to see they got there act together on this. Back in 07 the 3500 was only offered @ 10,300 or something like that.

    Sprinter 2500 vs 3500

Whats the gvw of the 3500 I think last time I looked into it, it was over 10k. Maybe they have lowered it since 07 when I was looking at them. And I think height is more important than length. There are plenty of 1-2 skid loads that are 60-72 tall. I scoop them up at c-rate as my trailer...

    Approx what should this pay?

Yea I have the transponder. I was charging $25.00 each way as I always wait in Canada for a load out. Heck at 90.00 you can have the transponder paid for in 2 trips. 200.00 a year ain't bad if you go to Canada allot. I go about 30 or so times a year!!

Chev Express (slop bkt) fuse cover

well thats cool. I had the lighter socket go out on my 06 and thought it was just a fuse. Went to the dealer and they explained how the lighter socket has a heat sink and when it gets to hot it melts away and loses the connection. I use to charge my acer on the lighter socket and it would get...

Chev Express (slop bkt) fuse cover

Woa there chief the cigar lighter does not have a fuse. It has a heat sink you have to replace the whole lighter, about 11.00 at dealer. stick your finger in it and twist it left and right it will spin and then you can pull it out. Just unplug the connector and plug the new one in. This...

    Approx what should this pay?

WOW 90.00 border-x-fee Thanks Moot I need to up my Canada rates. I was only charging 25.00 as it does not cost that much to cross any of the bridges, 10.00 tops one-way on the most expensive.

    Bolt Express

I listed Panther for the simple reason of he can go outside the box and find his own loads and set his own rate on them W/O getting his authority. I believe Dave KC does this, if I read a post correctly awhile back. Also Panther has a very wide freight base and they move just about anything...

    Bolt Express

This is not a Bolt Bash... If your dad has some money saved up then I would look for a higher paying carrier with a different kind of freight base. Being a O/O is not about the amount of miles you drive it is about how much of it you keep. Work smarter not harder. I always find that...

    Truth In Advertising & Posting?

BACK HAUL -- NO, that is a dirty word. There is no such thing as a back haul. The receiver needs the freight and without a truck they ain't getting it. I can not think of anywhere is the U.S. that a tractor would have to take a back haul rate. If you go into a area that you think requires a...

    Manual Trans in Cargo Van?

Yep the big 3 each make a commercial cutaway with a pk-up cab, however they cost quite a bit more that the van cutaways. As for me I like the way the van seats are. Feels more like sitting in a chair.

    Angriest city in America

I have herd that Detroit has some of the most aggressive drivers. But they do not hold a candle to the wonderful people  of Albuquerque, NM. Minimum 75 even when it's 55 and zipping in and out of traffic.

    cargo weight

Agree with this 100% I can haul up to 5700 pounds in my trailer and I charge D truck rate for this. I had to stop messing with van freight cause it got to cheap. Occasionally I can get a good paying CV run but it is getting harder and harder. I consider CV rate to be 2500 pounds maximum & 48"...

    cargo weight

Because of your rear tire rating!!! Even if you have good quality E rated tires they are only going to be rated @ 3300-3400 pounds a piece. That only gives you 6800 on your rear axle. Scale the truck see what your rear axle comes out to with your truck full equipped for the road, then decide...
