    Thank you for responding, 'chillout'.

    Attention All Expediters!!

I'm already registered, but I'd like to know what time the doors open Friday morning to pickup my 'credentials' for admission. I want to avoid the pre-9 am rush so as to not be late for the first Driver Workshop session.

    Pharmaceutical Cargo Alert

Useful information, Phil, but I'm wondering if anyone else is having trouble visualizing "pre-strike creation of avenues of escape".

    The best expediting company

Sorry, but that seems as though it could lead to dysfunctionality. Besides, I'd hate to leave the intimate atmosphere at FedexCC...despite only making $2.99 per mile (ALL miles, that is)! Even though I've never met Virginia, I really, really think of her as family!

    Deadhead

I'd be very curious as to what your response to the Fedex recruiter was, Phil. Care to share?

Brand new to expedite/ looking to hire driver what is a fair pay?

You need to listen to me more often, cheri. My wisdom is practically infinite!

    The best expediting company

    P. S. I'll move when I'm also promised $3/mile (for ALL miles, of course) AND a signed and notarized contract promising I WILL be treated like family!!

    The best expediting company

Really?!? Well, that's alright because I too am very analytical and methodical when making major decisions. When Leo makes his move I may very well move there also.

    The best expediting company

Leo, are you considering moving to another carrier again? Please tell me here. I won't mention a thing to anyone else!

Brand new to expedite/ looking to hire driver what is a fair pay?

Are you implying you are about to 'release' an unknown driver in a vehicle you own when neither you nor your husband have ANY experience with expediting?? If so, best of luck to you!

    New CV team driver

You had BETTER be worried about the lifestyle change! Six years ago my wife (my wife at the time, that is) and I graduated from a top-notch Class A driving school. We (at least I) couldn't wait until we could hit the road and experience the Grand Adventure! About the same time, a very...

    Recruiting Manager at LRT Expedite

I don't think being broke OR having a checking account flush with money has anything to do with it. A business owner has the responsibility to make payroll before ANY other financial obligations if he or she expects to stay in business - most definitely before he pays himself or herself...

    Recruiting Manager at LRT Expedite

cheri1122: Thanks for reinforcing my point. I've spent the last six years of my expediting life with four major carriers. During the steep learning curve it takes to be successful in this business I've never felt the need for a soothing hand to mop my fevered brow when things get tough out there...

    Recruiting Manager at LRT Expedite

That's exactly why I think it's so humorous whenever I read carrier ads that profess "You will be treated like family here!". I always wondered why that seems to attract certain owner/operators. It must work, or why would such carriers waste glossy space to make such a claim? Personally...

    The Blessing of the Trucks

I'm hoping some holy water can be sprinkled on my Freightliner. I call him Fred and he is my Higher Power. Besides, he needs a wash.

    Truck Driver's IQ

Gosh, I always wondered why all my classmates at The University of Michigan and Wayne State University went on to become medical doctors, attorneys and doctors of philosophy and the only offer I received coming out of college was working at the local dump. At least I was able to furnish my...

    Sign of Things To Come....

    T. Boone Pickens has been advocating the use of natural gas for commercial vehicles for some time and it seems few have been listening...or have lobbying groups simply had enough clout to quash any moves in that direction? Cheap fuel, a reduced reliance on foreign oil, lower...

Are You Preparing Your Business for the Coming Fiscal Cliff?

All true and very optimistic, Pres. Turri. However, it might be a little foolhardy to completely ignore the red flags popping up Phil (A Team) explains in such eloquent detail. I've been around long enough to see many business cycles evolve, and I'm definitely not going to blunder ahead...

Are You Preparing Your Business for the Coming Fiscal Cliff?

Let's look at this whole gloom and doom scenario from a different perspective, folks... There is no question in my mind we could be facing some very severe economic times ahead. Most of us seem to agree the potential hard times will probably result in inflation and possibly (but hopefully...

What does your screen name mean?

My favorite mammal. Surly and confrontational, with a voracious appetite for spartans, buckeyes and golden domers. Attending a certain school in Ann Arbor had a little bit to do with choosing it...
