Low prices are killing this month!ppl bending over like crazy!

Spent way too much money on the CDL trai ing to ever let it go. You never know what the future holds and I might end up needing it. Hate to go through all the training again. Of course, most trucking companies would probably force me to anyway. Quite a racket for CDL training.

Low prices are killing this month!ppl bending over like crazy!

There haven't been too many weeks over the last few months where I have not gotten at least 1 or 2 loads that would have forced me to break the 11 or 14 hour rule as well if I were under HOS rules. It would really be pretty difficult for me to take more than 1 placarded load in a van per week...

Once I drop that first HAZMAT load I am no longer required to log. Why would I continue to do so?

Ok I think No Logs Required sounds better and makes more sense as well. What doesn't make sense is continuing to log for the next 7 days if you think you might get another HAZMAT placarded load in that time frame. Why can't you just go back to No Log Required during the time between placarded...

What about the other weigh stations? Are you saying that placarded vans do not have to stop unless they are in a state that requires it?

Low prices are killing this month!ppl bending over like crazy!

No reason not to stop I quess. I have the endorsement, correct placards, and log book. Also, no issue with being overweight so probably would have just slid right through without any problems anyway. I feel like a van entering the scale house is such a rare occurance that they would be more...

Probably a good Idea. Only had 1 hazmat load so far that required placards and I buzzed passed two weigh stations because they didn't have that specific sign telling me I needed to stop. Nobody came after me but I could have just been lucky that day.

I am new to expediting and I was under the Impression that vans only had to stop at the weigh station if they were placarded for HAZMAT AND the sign at the weigh station specifically says all HAZMAT placarded vehicles must enter the scale. Please correct me if I am wrong here. Hate to get a...

    June and load one

I went ahead and took a hike today, not expecting to hear anything on a Saturday, and sure enough I got a call from dispatch that I missed cuz I had no signal in the woods. You could sit all day staring at your phone and nothing happens. Get away for a few minutes without the phone and that is...

    June and load one

Delivered a few hours early at the Louisville Ford assembly plant here in Kentucky last night. I thought I would get stuck there quite awhile since the police had nearly all the gates blocked and several fire trucks were in the parking lot, but I found an open gate and was in and out in about...

    June and load one

Loaded on Thursday afternoon in Dallas with a load to Indianapolis after sitting less than a day. As soon as I dropped, got a call immediately for a shorty to Cincinnati at a great rate. Thanks again for the advise to try Dallas out.

    Promaster box truck

I was thinking more along the lines of revenue enhancement with the large and lightweight box, however, driver comfort also has to factor into the equation for sure. It does look like you would be sleeping in a first generation space capsule with no room for sitting up or tossing around at all.

    Promaster box truck

Well, sounds like you would get a nice upper body workout pulling yourself up into it for sure.

    Promaster box truck

I saw this box truck at the J in Dallas. It looks like it has a roof top sleeper and a canvas box. Seems like with the canvas box you could keep the weight way down and also fit a variety of oddball sized freight. Similiar to the yellow Penske's only legal. Anyone have any experience with...

    June and load one

After 4 days in El Paso, I think I will give Dallas a try. Lots of competition in El Paso (vans all over the place) Thanks guys.

Not familiar with where the freight is here in Texas. Finally got a decent paying load out of El Paso that delivers in Lubbock,TX. Any chance I could get a load out of that area?

Not a single offer so far today. Very discouraging to say the least.

    June and load one

I am a week into my first trip out to Texas and after two days of sitting in Laredo, followed by day number 4 in El Paso, I have to say I will be hesitant to come out here again. The load out here made for a nice check but all this sitting around is going to kill the next two paychecks.

I'm with you on all that. If I had known ahead of time that I would be in Texas for a week I might have done the state park thing.
