You Decide................

Texas parents defend daughter, 11, after critics blast her rendition of national anthem | Fox News

I had about enough of it about 1/3 of the way through.....but listened to the whole thing anyways. Afterwards.....I took a couple of Tylenol...............

IMO.....her parents are just being parents by defending her.....But I can guarantee you this.....This little girl will NEVER be in front of a crowd this size EVER again singing the National Anthem.....Trust Me.

Many people screw the anthem up it is not an easy song to sing. I just cannot get onboard criticizing a child with enough courage to do it in the first place.

My criticism is of "HER" rendition of it......Period.

It's NOT a hard song to screw up.....Hell, we're all taught the song the first day in Elementary School. It gets all screwed up when "Stars"....and "Nobodies"... get out there and spin it into their "Version". Just get out there and sing the National Anthem the same way it has been sung for over 200 years in this country.....Take A Bow......and Go On. I don't really care to hear that you can reach 17 different Octaves from the sound of a Squirrel Squeeling to the Sound of Tires Screeching........just don't try to prove it to us when singing the National Anthem.

I just can't believe that her parents were listening to her practice this song (or did she???) for days leading up this.......My Child.....I would've been Honest and tried to save this embarrassment she rightly deserved by not allowing her to get out there and sing this in the way this little girl did.

It is a very well known fact it is a hard song to sing correctly because of the octave rang. I can't criticize a child for having the nerve to get up and sing anything in front of a crowd that size. Criticizing a rendition and criticizing the person does not have to be done together. When speaking of people criticizing a child i was talking about the population as a whole not you as a single poster.

It's not an easy song, and those who mess it up usually do so by making it even harder [stretching notes, changing pitch, adding tremelo & warbles] as this poor girl did.
Criticism is a valuable and necessary component of learning, but it should be judicious when it is aimed at kids, especially.
I wonder if she'll ever WANT to sing in front of an audience again.....tough way to learn.

But sometimes WE have to be Truthful and Honest........

And.....I don't exactly have a reputation when it comes to "Coddling" peoples feelings.....Know What I mean. :)

It is my understanding that the people that run the stadiums check out people before they let them get up and sing in front of a crowd I doubt they want someone that cannot sing doing the Natl Anthem and they do have singers wear ear pieces because of the stadium noise and echoes of the sound system so when she claims there was problem with the sound in her ear piece i believe it. Ever been to a concert and not seen a singer in a stadium , concert hall, etc not wearing a ear piece ???

As with Rosanne Barr, the people who signed her up knew what they were getting. This kid is 11 - ya think there might have been some stage fright in play here? Maybe they didn't let her rehearse in the place before putting her on the spot live - a huge disservice. Give her a break; let's fact it, the lyrics are good but it's an awful melody. There are several other songs that would make a better national anthem.

Fox4 in Dallas shows video of the girl singing at indoor sporting events and she did a good job for an 11 year old girl which is why she was invited to do her first outdoor stadium appearance. Fox4 also has the girl on live for interview with her dad and again explains problems with the sound system caused problems because of delays the sound from her microphone to the speakers in the stadium

Dose anybody see the W.T.F. expressions on the crowds faces? I see a long career at Walmart for her. Where is Simon Cowel when you need him?

I think the Cactus Cuties should sing it every time, and when they get too old, they should teach everyone else how it's done, cause they are that good.

I would put this on event organizers...ALL the blame......Think if you were a celebrity and asked to sing the anthem.....if you do it and it turns out crappy you get beat up on....AND if you turn the offer down and gets out to the press....Headline next morning..."Ontariovanman Unpatriotic refuses to sing Anthem".....ya get beat up again.....

Here ya go........

Very WELL Done......None of these little girls tried to stretch out the words, or over sing the song itself.

Straight....Simple.... to the Point......and with Beautiful Little Voices at that too.

BTW.....This was sung at my Alma Maters (If I had actually Graduated from Tech ;)) Sports Arena. United Spirit Arena in Lubbock Texas at Texas Tech University. My Older sister was there and had mentioned these little girls some time back. Don't know why I didn't think of them earlier.........

Yep thats it,
A strange thing I read a few weeks ago our national anthem was originaly an old English drinking song. Diferent wording but, If you could sing it right you wernt too hammered to continue drinking or somthing like that. I dont recomend trying that with the cops as a soberiety test. Maby thats why its tough to sing right and sound good doing it. Anyway, just somthing to wrap your brain arround when youre driving at o-dark thirty.
