Saw it, laughed my a** off. It should have been two hours long with more details on what actually goes on.

I think in the wide world of TV, it's called Sex for Effect ... she's a poor representation of women in trucking.

And a good representation would be? a muscular stereo type butch looking gal in her 40's...a face that looks like a million miles of trucks ran over?

Shes young, vain and an ego to match any male driver...and competitive..and she works slugging them chains..more then some of us pu$$y expediters are...

You are ******* kidding me?

Vain? Yes

Has an Ego? Not really

Competitive? Nope

You don't need a butch type of lady to do this work or that work, any one I met here can do the work better. It is all about the ratings and they make her out to be something special.

Let's start with what other's say about her on the show. You didn't catch the comments on the show?
It seems that they are not clueless as the general population that she should not be there. Listen to what she says during some of the segments, kind of frikn' stupid things. Then you have the attitude, "I can get someone else to do it for me..." type attitude. I know a few who are the same weight and height who can put on a set of chains or fix a light issue or fix a fuel line without asking for help. How about professionalism, not knowing your safety equipment, or your DOT is going to expire and then acting like you are dumbfounded as to what happened to the triangles - didn't fool the DOT officer, did it? BUT then the show producers made a big deal about the $168 fine she had to pay instead of pointing out the fact she was at fault not knowing what she has.

When she did the show circuit here in the states, the guy I'm managing his fleet for met her and had lunch with her and a few others from the show. He's a pretty open and non-judgmental guy (the reason he was walked over a lot) AND he even said he "would never hire her to haul dog crap in a wagon, she isn't all there"

If she had of done her pre trip properly she would have known she was short a triangle...that did not fool the DOT...that was a dumb segment...

Unlike Deadliast catch which I believe to be mostly real, IRT is not real at all how many times did they show the same truck off the road. They add fake situations into the show to make it interesting. The fact is truck driving for the most part is really boring to watch.
Are their really accidents on the Dalton, Yes
Do they happen daily? Probably not
Also I believe most of the guys and gals that drive,d rive in pairs for safety in case one truck breaks down or gets stuck even though the show doesn't show that.
HOS is another thing the show doesn't really address.
It is a fun show to watch but I don't believe it is real at all

Also, I have a real problem seeing her put on the chains when alot of the guys have trouble with them. Those chains are heavy and I can't believe she does it by herself....most likely she gets help with them.

One other thing, since I have never driven a semi, they show even the experienced drivers missing a shift and coming to a dead stop on the hills. Seems to me an automatic would be safer out there. Maybe there is a good reason they don't use them.

Even the experienced drivers seem to miss shifts, I have never driven a semi is this a common occurance?
I do know they show the trucks traveling together, but they have also shown Hugh leaving by himself. I may be wrong but they probably don't allow that and they did it to make the show more interesting. Just like the one driver having clogged air filter problems, I am sure he had another truck near him, plus for the TV show they have a chase truck who takes pictures. I do not believe he was out there by himself even though that is how they made it sound.

I like the show just don't think it is 100% real

Yes most experienced drivers miss a gear once in a while if they say they never miss a gear or grind a gear, in my opinoin they are liars , I have missed a few gears in my 18 years in big trucks. I dont watch the show on a regular basis but do they say how much experience she had driving big trucks before they put her on the show?

Wasn't gonna put my two cents in...but I've worked with women like her before...but not for long. She's the type that gives the rest of us a bad name...sorry..but the last thing I'd ever say would be that a man can help me out...If you're going to put yourself in a man's world, you've got to be better than most. Been there...done that...got the t'shirt!:)

Lisa Kelly

'THE TOMBOY'
AGE: 29

Lisa is a rambunctious tomboy truck driver and motocross-riding daredevil. She has crashed both trucks and motorcycles, but nothing has scared her off from running the Dalton. Lisa has to battle the big boys daily to keep her job. Last year she worked hard to prove herself worthy of bigger and tougher loads. She's no rookie, but many drivers feel she's a lightweight and can't be trusted on the road. Can she overcome the fact that she's a girl and get the boys to take her seriously? And will she finally get to prove herself as a rising heavy haul driver?

OVM, you can't convince me - you have the hots for her. :p

Take for instance the driver who did some work for a friend, Carol Synder. she is like a school marm, 5' 4" tall and skinny as a rail. She drives heavy haul with her sister Sharon who does look like Lisa. Both of them know their ****, they know what a pretrip is, you can ask them about anything on the truck and they will know but they actually drove in Alaska for five years with their father who worked for a rival of Carlise (which is another point, there are something like 100 companies doing that work and we only hear/see about two?). Carol handles chains like it is no tomorrow, better than many vanners here but she isn't some butch chick (sorry for that ladies) who gets her kicks out of starting bar fights.

The show is good entertainment, but it doesn't represent actual work being done. It is more or less a reality show with "stars" who are making the living being "stars". I don't doubt the work is hard, it may be harder than what I do or not, I don't know because I haven't made it up there in the winter time to judge it. By the shows account, no it is not any harder than what we go through here in the lower 48, we have the same dangers and the same issues.

As for her "bio", just the fact they stuck "She has crashed both trucks and motorcycles, ..." and She's no rookie" say a lot. I think she admitted to only driving for less than a year or something like that so by my standards she is still a rookie. Crashing trucks is a bit reckless to me when we have drivers who drive a million miles plus without a single accident, there seems to be something wrong.

Having a truck that went to Prudhoe Bay in the winter, against my better judgement and suggestion to decline the load, I can say they definitely have it tougher due to the bitter temperatures.

So IRT has a Chick driver that's Vain and has an EGO. WOW.. that's gonna leave NASCAR wondering what they did wrong. I didn't think that Danica Patrick was gonna leave IndyCar. For anything. LOL.
