I am curious as to your thoughts about this clause I found in the Constitution regarding Migration of Persons...

How can they charge..initial application charge was around $600 for the main apps...and $275 for the DHS and then plus, plus ,plus for other items.

Section 9
Clause 1:
The Migration or Importation of such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the Congress prior to the Year one thousand eight hundred and eight, but a Tax or duty may be imposed on such Importation, not exceeding ten dollars for each Person.

Article 1, Section 9, puts some limits on Congress. This clause refers to the slave trade. It looks on its face like a pro-slave victory, as it denies Congress the power to outlaw the international slave trade until 1808. On January 1, 1808, they did just that. Until 1808, however, the Constitution permitted Congress to levy a maximum duty of ten dollars per slave imported into the United States.
