Employees at XPO Logistics Inc.'s less-than-truckload facilities in Aurora and Elgin, Ill., voted against representation by the Teamsters union, the company said April 17.

At the same time, 17 employees at its LTL facility in Trenton, N.J., agreed to join the Teamsters, setting that process in motion, the company said. The votes came April 14. The Trenton outcome marked the only win by the Teamsters this year in five tries against XPO.

"We're pleased that our employees in Aurora and Elgin have made a well-informed decision to vote down the Teamsters. Only 178 of our 44,000 North American employees have voted in favor of the Teamsters since 2015, and none of our locations have a collective bargaining contract in place," an XPO spokesperson said in a statement.

XPO added: "We're investigating the election process in Trenton to determine if it was lawful."
