MATS.jpgLOUISVILLE, Ky. — Big wooden boxes are lying all around the floor, much of it covered with a thick layer of plastic to protect the carpet from soiled shoes.

Workers are climbing ladders, hooking up lights and detailing company logos.

Others are polishing the chrome on the wheels of shiny big rigs.

Even more are waiting their turn for to use a fork lift.

You sure wouldn’t know that in 48 hours, the world’s biggest trucking show will open at the Kentucky Exposition Center here.

But come Thursday morning, everything will be fit for the 80,000 or so guests who'll pass through the doors over the next three days.

The 37th annual Mid-America Trucking Show runs March 27-29, a week later in the calendar than normal because of Easter Sunday coming much earlier than normal.

Show hours are 1-6 p.m. Thursday, March 27; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, March 28, and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, March 29.

This year’s show will be the first to be held in the newly-constructed North Wing and the remodeled East Wing, which now mirrors the column-less, high ceiling layout of the huge South Wing.

No longer is there a wall between the East and South wings, making it easier for show goers to traverse the exhibits.
