Crushing Cones: What to expect when attending truck driving school
Now available through Women In Trucking Association.

PLOVER, WI:   Ellen Voie, President and founder of Women In Trucking, spent her entire career in transportation but until recently, had never driven a tractor-trailer.  As leader of an organization that encourages and supports women in the trucking industry, she was challenged to obtain her commercial driver’s license (CDL) in an effort to better understand the training process.

Voie attended the Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio and earned her Class A CDL.  “Many potential drivers call us to understand what to expect before entering this industry,” said Voie, “so I wrote Crushing Cones to help them prepare for their training experience.” The 83 page book is more than a journal.  It includes information on choosing a school, selecting the best carrier, and what a potential driver will learn while attending driver-training classes. It also includes diagrams and information that a student must know to pass the written and skills testing and outlines the steps in conducting a pre-trip inspection.  There are also 21 color photos throughout the book.
