Volvo to Cut 650 at Virginia Truck Plant
Volvo Trucks North America announced permanent layoffs of 650 hourly
employees in March and April at its New River Valley plant in Dublin,
Va., according to published reports.
The will sideline 40 percent of the truck assembly plant's remaining
workforce. This follows a layoff of about 1,000 workers at the plant
last May.
Last August, restructuring plans for Volvo sister company Mack were
announced that would transfer assembly of all Mack highway vehicles
from the Dublin plant to the Mack plant in Macungie, Pa.
