Virginia expands search for suspects who shot three trucks
During the early morning hours one day this past week, a car with darkened headlights sped southbound down Interstate 77, shooting and hitting three different trucks near the North Carolina border.
None of the drivers were injured by the shooting, but police have new information they hope will bring the shooter to justice.
Virginia State Police are expanding their search for suspects and information about the shooting, and have a picture of a suspect and a car.
The shooting occurred at about 2 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, between the 7-mile and 2-mile post on I-77 in Carroll County, VA. An early 1990s model gold or brown sedan believed to be either a Chrysler or Plymouth Acclaim was seen near the area around the time of the shootings, state police said. Between two and three people were believed to have been in the sedan.
“According to the drivers, the suspect vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed with its headlights turned off when the shootings occurred,†Virginia State Police said in a statement.
A surveillance video from a nearby convenience store showed a heavyset man exiting the suspected sedan. He appeared to wear a cast on his right arm.
