VA authorities arrest man tied to April truck shootings
Virginia authorities have arrested one man allegedly involved in a shooting incident near the Virginia-North Carolina border last month.
During the early morning hours of April 16, a car with darkened headlights sped southbound down Interstate I-77, shooting and hitting three different trucks near the North Carolina border.
None of the drivers were injured by the shooting, and state police quickly put out word of a person of interest in the shooting. They credited news media after receiving tips about the case, which led to the arrest of Emilio Rubio-Gonzalez on Tuesday. Rubio-Gonzalez was taken into custody at 9 a.m. Tuesday during a traffic stop on Interstate 64 in Alabama.
Virginia State Police are still searching for Emilio’s brother, Leon Rubio-Gonzalez, 26, of Boone, NC.
Both men face charges of two counts of attempted murder, three counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle and three counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, according to Virginia State Police.
