In a story on the most and least popular jobs in each state by CareerBuilder.com, trucking was listed as the most popular profession in one state, Arkansas, while in most states the most popular occupation was retail sales.

The least popular profession to go into in Arkansas was orthotists and prosthetists, with only 30 in the state, while the Natural state boasted 37,710 truck drivers, heavy and tractor-trailer.

In California, there were more general office clerks than anything else, probably to keep up with all the government regulations: 396,000 people in the Golden state are general office clerks. West Virginia also had more general office clerks than anything else, 25,040 of them.

Not surprisingly, in the District of Columbia the most popular profession was lawyers, 29,060 of them, while Louisiana was heavy on cashiers, with 65,040 of them, compared to its least favored position, physicist (only 30).

Also not surprisingly, Nevada’s most popular occupation was waiter/waitress, with 40,770 of them compared with only 30 epidemiologists in the state. No mention was made of how many are in gaming.
