Hundreds of truck drivers are planning to protest in Washington Monday to protest high diesel prices, WRC television reported on its Web site.

Many of the drivers are coming from Harrisburg, Pa., to Capitol Hill in Washington, the Washington station reported. Authorities said the trucks will be causing problems on many local roads.

The truckers are expected to begin driving around the area of the White House and Capitol starting at about 9 a.m. on Monday. At 11 a.m., the truckers will park their big rigs at RFK Stadium and rally in front of the White House, WRC said.

The truckers said they want Congress to issue an immediate cap on gasoline, diesel and heating oil prices, the station said.

The truckers called for other area truckers to drive at 5 miles per hour in support of the protest.
