Sleep apnea teleconference to be Sept. 21
Truckers can take part in a teleconference on sleep apnea at 7 p.m. CDT Sept. 21, the advocacy group Aware Well and Keeping Energized announced. By calling 712-432-6060, access code 350926#, people can listen to medical experts and ask questions following presentations on the sleep disorder.
Trucker health specialist Dr. Mark Berger, of precision Pulmonary Diagnostics, will compare sleep studies conducted in trucks versus in labs. Other guest speakers are Ed Grandii, American Sleep Apnea Association director; Gary Hull, Truckers for a Cause coordinator; and Dr. John McElligott, one of the founders of the former Professional Drivers Medical Depots.
Truckers for a Cause and the American Sleep Apnea Association formed the nonprofit group AWAKE, which now has many small chapters nationally and in Canada, says Bob Stanton, one of the group’s founders. The Sept. 21 meeting will be the group’s first such teleconference.
No registration fee is required for the teleconference, only the charge for calling. For more details, go to
