Oil Purification Systems gets environmental award
SHELTON, Conn. — Oil Purification Systems (OPS) announced today that The National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP) has selected the OPS-1 on-board oil refining system as the 2009 Best Available Environmental Technology. NAEP selected the OPS-1 system based on its ability to help fleet owners dramatically reduce oil consumption, cut oil maintenance costs by as much as 80 percent, and extend equipment life while also minimizing the negative effects to the environment.
“We are pleased to recognize a product like the OPS-1 system that is demonstrating excellence environmental improvements,†said Robert Cunningham, NAEP Awards Committee Chairman. “Oil Purification Systems has displayed, with noted results, an innovative method to reduce oil consumption and provide significant environmental impact, all while helping trucking fleet operators save money.â€
NAEP recognized OPS’ contribution in the effort to decrease America’s dependence on oil. Customers implementing OPS’ fluid cleaning technology run more than 120,000 miles between oil changes and save thousands of dollars a year in oil maintenance costs. Broad adoption of the OPS technology could decrease national oil consumption by close to 2 billion barrels per year, while global adoption could cut consumption by many times that amount.
“OPS is honored to be recognized by the National Association of Environmental Professionals, an organization that is dedicated to improving our environment,†said Greg Slawson, chief operating officer for OPS. “Our fluid cleaning technology was developed to help other businesses meet that same goal. We are confident that our technology will continue to play an even greater role in environmental sustainability efforts, while also helping companies save money in oil maintenance costs, for many years to come.â€
The Best Available Environmental Technology award is being presented to OPS at NAEP’s Annual Conference in Scottsdale, Ariz., this week. OPS will also deliver a technical presentation during the event.
