National diesel average drops another 1.4 cents to $2.594

For two straight weeks now, the U.S. Energy Information Administration is reporting that the national diesel average has dropped slightly – down 1.4 cents to average $2.594 per gallon on Monday, July 6.

According to the EIA’s report, fuel prices were averaging nearly $4.727 per gallon at the pump this same week a year ago.

Eight of the nine regions are again reporting slight decreases in fuel prices. For the second week in a row, the Rocky Mountain region is reporting an increase of 1.7 cents per gallon to average $2.646 per gallon for fuel.

California again tops the list as having the highest regional average for diesel at $2.787 per gallon, up two-tenths of a cent from a week ago. The region with the lowest price – the Gulf Coast – is selling fuel for around $2.548, a decrease of 2.1 cents, from a week ago.
