It’s that time of year again!
The Trucking Solutions Group Health Awareness Walk Promotes a Healthier Driver

LOUISVILLE, KY. - The entire trucking industry is invited to join the Trucking Solutions Group for the third annual MATS Health Awareness Walk on Friday morning March 23, 2012 at 9 a.m. during the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky.

The MATS Health Awareness Walk is celebrating its third year as the first of its kind fitness event for the trucking industry. There is no cost, but registration is required. Registration is available online at www.truckingsolutionsgroup.org . Registrants will receive T-shirts and goodie bags, while supplies last, with health information and giveaways. Walkers will meet in room number WH2, West Wing of the Kentucky Exposition Center at 8:00 a.m. for refreshments and the walk will begin at 9:00 a.m.

The MATS Health Awareness Walk is a fun, non-competitive 1.5 mile course for anyone in the trucking industry who is thinking about getting fit, wanting to stay healthy or looking for tips to enhance their workouts. In order to accommodate all walkers, participants can choose the distance of their choice up to 1.5 miles.

The walk is sponsored by the Trucking Solutions Group and Travel Centers of America (TA/Petro) with special thanks to the Mid-America Trucking Show. The Trucking Solutions Group, along with its partner Travel Centers of America (TA/Petro) are innovators in the trucking industry, working towards making personal health and fitness a bigger concern for all truckers.

“Being drivers ourselves, the Trucking Solutions Group realizes how hard it is to begin an exercise program,” says Linda Caffee, professional driver and chairman of the Trucking Solutions Group Driver Health Council. “The hardest step of any exercise program is the first. Whether you are a marathon runner or someone who wants to take that first step we invite you to join us. Together we can become healthier, one driver at a time.”

The Trucking Solutions Group and the American Red Cross sponsor the Second Annual Blood Drive at the Mid America Trucking Show.

LOUISVILLE, KY. - The Trucking Solutions Group is again partnering with the American Red Cross to sponsor its second blood drive at a major trucking show from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m on Friday, March 23, 2012 and again on Saturday March 24, 2012 during the Mid America Trucking Show. Those attending the show at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky. are invited to stop and donate with no appointment needed.

“Whenever there is a crisis or a need within a community, truck drivers and others within the trucking industry are some of the first to step up and respond,” Caffee said. “We’re all in this together! This blood drive provides the needed supplies to insure that the American Red Cross can respond when they are needed.”

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood, which creates the need for 38,000 blood donations every day. Less than 38 percent of the U.S. population is eligible to donate blood making the goal of 38,000 donations per day a daunting challenge. Because blood cannot be manufactured, the American Red Cross depends on the generosity of its donors to maintain their supply.
