Letter from DOT? Nope

OOIDA’s compliance department is getting calls from OOIDA members who’ve gotten an email that, unless read carefully, could be mistaken for an official notice from the U.S. DOT.

In fact, it’s from a private company that’s trying to sell online drug and alcohol awareness training for $99.

No company name is shown. Truckers receiving the email are informed in bold, capital letters that they are “CURRENTLY OUT OF COMPLIANCE” if they answered “true” to a series of questions.

OOIDA’s Kip Hough of the Business Services Department, says a number of truckers who’ve called were confused by the email. Hough says you should read your email carefully, and members can call OOIDA at 800-444-5791.

“We can help you determine if you are really out of compliance,” said Hough. “Chances are, you are not.”
