Feeling lucky? Truck drivers going through Illinois may not have to go very far if they want to test out their luck.

With a new provision of the state’s gaming laws, Illinois truck stops could soon contain mini-casinos, as reported by the Bloomington, Ill. Pantagraph newspaper.

According to a report, truck stops occupying at least three acres with a separate fueling station for semis would be allowed to install gambling machines. The truck stops must also be licensed to sell alcohol to install the machines.

While the law may allow the use of gambling devices, some truck stops are being cautious about whether to install them.

Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores, which has five locations in Illinois, hasn’t decided what to do. According to a Love’s press release, “If there are new laws regarding video gambling in Illinois, Love’s will determine interest level, if any, in offering that option at those locations and will conduct any research and applicable licensing requirements at that time.”
