Fuel prices up 3.1 cents to $2.216 per gallon after three-week decline
After three straight weeks of dropping fuel prices, the U.S. Energy Information Administration is reporting that fuel prices are on the rise again.
According to the EIA’s report on Monday, May 11, the price for diesel jumped 3.1 cents to average $2.216 per gallon. However, a year ago this same week, fuel prices had shot up to $4.331 per gallon nationwide.
All nine regions are reporting increases at the pump this past week. Despite a 3.3-cent increase, the Midwest region is still reporting the lowest regional average price for fuel at $2.160 per gallon. The New England region still has the highest fuel average at $2.395 per gallon.
