Flying J menu offers pleasant alternative to dining on more common fare
How many times have you been on a date with your favorite gal when the subject of food has come up? Where would you like to eat? you ask.
“Oh,†your date replies, “any place is fine. You decide’.â€
Sound familiar so far?
You keep driving until finally finding a parking spot. You get out, walk around to the passenger’s door and help her make her exit.
Arm in arm, you amble inside and wait to be seated. You’re watching for a reaction from your lady friend. So far, so good. You reach your table and order a couple of drinks. Nothing could be finer. Then you notice a particular glint in your gal’s eye.
“Is this a truck stop?†she asks, leaning across the table.
“Why, yes, my dear, I believe it is. Would you rather go someplace else? But I can tell you, the food is excellent and so is the service.â€
“Why, no. As a matter of fact, I find it rather charming. Let’s eat; I’m starved.â€
Sounds like you’ve struck pay dirt, pal. Chances are you have, if you’ve landed at your favorite Flying J. The menu reflects about a dozen or so appetizers, several fresh salads and your favorite beverage just waiting for you and your lady.
She chooses the Grilled Chicken Cobb salad, while you settle on the house version.
“This is sooo good,†your dining mate coos. “Now, I think I’ll have the steak and salmon grill.â€
“Great,†you say. “That’ll go good with my steak and shrimp.â€
If you’re thinking that the menu is sounding a bit exotic or a little too rich for your bank account, think again. The steak and salmon is available at just under $12, but don’t stop there. You can order a one-pound T-bone with all the trimmings for just $14.99. You might also want to try the country fried steak, the steak Tampiquena, jumbo fried shrimp and even something called Chicken Bella Vitano.
Or how about the new meat lover’s pizza, spicy shrimp and smoked sausage pasta, grilled Cajun chicken and pasta or the double Salisbury steak?
If you and your dinner mate are like most Flying J customers, you’ve just about eaten more than you should have and probably have no room remaining for dessert. And something else you’ll notice, too; you’re wallet isn’t as thin as you thought it might have been at this point. All Flying J menu items are more than reasonably priced and plentiful.
One thing you’ll probably want to remember on your way out the door is to pick up a copy of the breakfast menu. Chances are, you’ll be back about sun-up, just in time for your sunny-side-up eggs and whatever else your breakfast taste buds are shouting for.
Flying J customers far and wide agree that there isn’t a healthier, better-tasting and more reasonably priced meal anywhere in America. That is, unless your date from the night before wants to prepare breakfast just for two.
