Florida hikes truck fees 35 percent
This year, Florida truckers face a registration fee increase of an average 35 percent after the Legislature instituted its first hike since 1971.
Ann Nucatola, press secretary for the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, said the increase puts Florida level with averages nationwide. Truck registration has remained constant so far, she said.
Legislators established the new fee schedule, effective Sept. 1, as part of the state’s budget development process and was contained in SB 1778.
