Driver cleared in fatal shooting in Knoxville, TN
Prosecutors in Knox County, TN, say a 68-year-old trucker has been cleared of any wrongdoing after he shot and killed a man who was trying to break into his truck early Wednesday morning, March 11.
James Hodges, 34, was killed after he used a rock to break out one of the truck’s windows as the trucker was asleep at a warehouse parking lot near Knoxville.
Deputy district attorney John Gill says the trucker acted in self-defense.
“The police did a very thorough investigation, which ultimately showed that the trucker was asleep in his truck when all of a sudden a rock comes through the window …†Gill told Land Line Now on Sirius XM. “He naturally took actions to protect himself, and we determined they were justified.â€
Gill said the intruder was reaching in through the broken window when he was shot.
