Prosecutors in Knox County, TN, say a 68-year-old trucker has been cleared of any wrongdoing after he shot and killed a man who was trying to break into his truck early Wednesday morning, March 11.

James Hodges, 34, was killed after he used a rock to break out one of the truck’s windows as the trucker was asleep at a warehouse parking lot near Knoxville.

Deputy district attorney John Gill says the trucker acted in self-defense.

“The police did a very thorough investigation, which ultimately showed that the trucker was asleep in his truck when all of a sudden a rock comes through the window …” Gill told Land Line Now on Sirius XM. “He naturally took actions to protect himself, and we determined they were justified.”

Gill said the intruder was reaching in through the broken window when he was shot.
