Dometic Introduces New Portable Air Purifier for Cabs and Sleepers

RICHMOND, Va. – March 31, 2011 – For 2011, Dometic is introducing a new portable air purifier that reduces allergens, contaminants and odors from the air inside the truck.

The portable Breathe Easy air purifier uses innovative photocatalytic nano-mesh technology with non-ozone producing ultraviolet (UV) light to reduce biological contaminants like mold spores, bacteria and viruses. The energy from the UV light activates titanium-dioxide catalysts on the nano mesh, and the pollutants and odors that come in contact with the nano mesh are reconfigured into cleaner and healthier air. An internal fan pulls air from the space through the purifier.

“Independent laboratory tests have shown that the Breathe Easy technology can reduce volatile organic compounds up to 96 percent and bacteria and fungi by up to 99 percent,” said Lou Siegel, spokesman for Dometic’s U.S. trucking business unit. “The system has been proven to reduce allergy and asthmatic symptoms, and it also effectively removes odors from tobacco smoke, diesel fumes and other sources.”

The unit comes with a standard 12V DC power plug and an AC plug adapter, so it can be easily moved from the truck to any other location in the home or office.

In addition to the Breathe Easy, Dometic will show its full line of air conditioners for sleepers and day cabs, as well as its built-in and portable refrigerators/freezers and coolers, in Booth 20075 at the Mid-America Trucking Show.
