Diesel Takes First Dive Since April

The price of diesel may have hit a peak last week, dropping 0.8 cents this week, according to the Department of Energy. This is the first decline since the end of April.

This week's average diesel price, $2.608, is $2.037 below last year's price during the same week.

The West Coast and Central Atlantic regions saw the highest diesel prices this week, at $2.785 and $2.726, respectively. California experienced prices of $2.785. In the Gulf Coast and Midwest regions, diesel was as low as $2.569 and $2.578, respectively.

Gasoline prices also took a dip this week, falling 4.9 cents to $2.642. The fuel has been on the rise for the last 11 weeks.

Crude oil jumped $2.33, or 3.4 percent, to $71.49 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange Monday, the highest close since June 12, according to Bloomberg.
