Diesel prices rise again
Average U.S. diesel prices climbed again this week, increasing 7.4 cents to $2.572 a gallon. Over the past five weeks, the price has advanced more than 30 cents, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.
The average price of a gallon of diesel is $2.12 less than a year ago when prices jumped to close to $5 a gallon but are climbing quickly.
Price increases were reported in all regions tracked by DOE. Prices rose from 5.2 cents a gallon on the West Coast to 8.8 cents in the Lower Atlantic area at 8.8 cents. The least expensive region is the Rocky Mountain area at $2.52 and the most costly is California at $2.734.
