Diesel prices reverse decline
After seven straight weeks of falling prices, diesel rose for the week ending today to $2.732 a gallon, about a half-cent higher than a week ago, according to the average tracked by the U.S. Department of Energy. The price is 41 cents higher than a year ago.
Average prices in regions tracked by DOE:
East Coast: $2.749.
Midwest: $2.707.
Gulf Coast: $2.689.
Rocky Mountain: $2.728.
West Coast: $2.841.
News reports indicate fuel prices will rise at least short-term due to forecasts of colder-than-normal weather, which drives up demand for heating oil.
