Diesel keeps dropping, falls to $2.366, sits at almost half of July price

The weekly retail on-highway diesel price today fell $0.056 per gallon, to $2.366, according to the Energy Information Administration.


The price today was $0.942 a gallon less than the same week one year ago. And almost half as much as it was July 14 when it peaked at $4.764.


Every region showed a decline in price this week. The Rocky Mountain region at $2.272 per gallon and the West Coast at $2.274 per gallon were the cheapest places to buy diesel. Topping the chart was the New England region at $2.689 per gallon, which was $0.051 a gallon less than last week.


California was at $2.251 per gallon, a drop of $0.041 a gallon from the week before and down a whopping $1.183 a gallon from a year ago.
