Diesel increases 7.3 cents to $2.090
The weekly retail on-highway diesel price this week jumped for the first time since Jan. 12 when the U.S. average was $2.314 per gallon. The price increased $0.073 per gallon to $2.090 per gallon after falling the nine previous weeks, according to the Energy Information Administration.
Just as it appeared the average diesel price might fall below $2.00 per gallon it increased across all regions of the country. However, the price today was $1.899 lower than the same week one year ago.
California’s average price was $2.129 today, up $0.080 from last week, but down $1.990 from one year ago.
The least expensive place in which to purchase a gallon of diesel was the Rocky Mountain region at $2.036, with the most expensive area the New England region at $2.403.
