Diesel drops 1.9 cents to $2.582 for fifth straight week

Diesel prices have dropped for the fifth straight week, down 1.9 cents from a week ago to average $2.582 per gallon.

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s report on Monday, Oct. 5, the national average price is down $1.293 from a year ago when fuel was averaging around $3.875 per gallon.

All nine regions are again reporting decreases in fuel prices this past week. The lowest average price is being reported in the Gulf Coast region, where fuel is averaging around $2.520 per gallon. Despite a 2.1-cent-per-gallon drop, the California region still has the highest average price for fuel at $2.792.
