Diesel continues climb to $2.228

The weekly retail on-highway diesel price increased $0.007 per gallon today, the third consecutively weekly increase. The average price was $2.228 per gallon which is down $1.727 per gallon from the same week a year ago, according to the Energy Information Administration.

Since the record breaking price July 14, 2008, of $4.764 a gallon, diesel has fallen $2.536 per gallon in weeks of dropping prices with a few upswings, including the past three weeks.

The East Coast (-$0.002) and the Lower Atlantic (-$0.103) were the only regions that did not show an increase in price this week. The East Coast price was $2.279 per gallon while the Lower Atlantic’s price was $2.205 per gallon.

All other regions showed an increase with the Rocky Mountain region showing the largest jump ($0.067) to $2.213 per gallon.

California was up $0.038 per gallon to $2.335 a gallon. The price was down $1.783 from the same week a year ago.
