Illinois_truck_crash.jpgNORTHBROOK, Ill. — A crash involving four tractor-trailers and two four-wheelers at the Edens Expressway Spur near Northbrook, Ill., injured four people — at least one seriously -- and temporarily snarled evening rush-hour traffic Wednesday.

Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Allison Renaud said the crash occurred at about 4:25 p.m. in the eastbound lanes.

Two trucks jackknifed on the roadway and two automobiles were damaged.

Helicopters airlifted the injured to three hospitals — Advocate Lutheran General in Park Ridge, Highland Park in Highland Park and Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview.

The most seriously injured was the driver of one of the trucks, Renaud said, adding she did not have information about his injuries.

Renaud said first-responders received a scare when they arrived on the scene and saw what one truck had spilled.

"We thought it was hazmat (hazardous materials). But it's just mustard, thankfully," Renaud said.
