Canadian trucker caught with major marijuana haul
BANGOR, Maine — A 35-year-old Canadian trucker will remain in jail until his trial on charges he allegedly tried to smuggle more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana into the United States at the border crossing in Houlton.
Bruno Rousselle of New Brunswick agreed Monday in U.S. District Court in Bangor to be held without bail pending resolution of his case.
Rousselle was arrested in October at the Houlton border crossing while headed for Massachusetts. Officials said they found the marijuana in some large plastic containers commonly used to haul fish products.
According to an affidavit, Rousselle told officials he was approached by his boss to deliver the load.
