The contractor on an I-40 bridge project in Tennessee made short work of replacing four large bearings, and the route is now open to traffic again.

The Associated Press reports work on the French Broad River bridge just east of Knoxville was expected to take up to 10 days, but workers started Friday and finished Sunday.

The reopening ends a 50-mile detour for trucks.
