BLOG: On our way to Louisville

This year we are taking a pickup to the Mid America Truck Show in Louisville, KY.  We are on the way with 235 miles left to travel and plan on arriving around noon.

This year we will be a first for many things such as staying in a hotel during the show. We have always had our truck and I have taken for granted having everything I need out in the truck.  This year I had to pack us a suitcase and I am wondering what I have forgotten.

Another hardship of not having our truck at the show is we will have to buy most of our food.   We would normally take a break around noon and have a sandwich in the truck before heading back out again.   In the evenings we enjoy spending time in the Papa Johns Parking lot-watching people BBQ and visiting.

We have a couple of meetings we will be attending that requires semi-formal attire. We have a few meetings during the truck show where we will need to be dressed nice.   So this year at the truck show Bob will be in his tie and I will be in a skirt.   We will have a lot to see and do at the truck show and we will be putting a lot of miles on our feet.

We have a plethora of people we want to see, some new friends and others that we see each year at MATS.   The people are what make MATS a cannot miss event for us.   We have a long list of vendors to stop by and visit with.   We also have a list of items we need to buy and many of the vendors have show specials.

We know once we arrive in Louisville we will not get enough sleep, our feet and back will hurt, and we will enjoy every minute.   This show only happens once a year and we have plenty of time later to catch up on sleep and let our feet recover.

I have one other goal outside of the truck show that I will get accomplished this year.   In 2009 I discovered that Churchill Downs is within walking distance of Papa Johns Parking Lots.   In 2009 I walked down all excited about seeing the museum and found out they are closed on Sundays.   I was devastated but knew I would be back the next year.   In 2010 with great excitement I once again set of to tour the museum.   To my dismay there was a sign on the door closed for renovation and would open a week later.   This year I am once going to set off to see the museum with great hopes that the stars will align and I will get inside the doors.   Wish me luck!

See you at the truck show!
