The national average retail price of a gallon of diesel jumped for the third consecutive week, climbing 9.6 cents to $2.801 for the week ended Oct. 26. The price is the highest recorded since last Nov. 17, when it was $2.809 after falling from last year's record-high prices.

All regions tracked by DOE recorded big increases. Leading the way was a 10.9-cent gain to $2.773 in the Lower Atlantic region. The cheapest diesel remains in the Gulf Coast, where prices climbed to $2.74. California is home to the costliest diesel at $2.968, up 9.4 cents from the previous week.
